If the payout for a Don’t Pass Odds wager equals the amount of the Flat wager, then the Odds wager is bridged. The section of your Odds wager that’s the same as the Flat wager is laid right next to the Flat wager. Then, the remainder of the Odds bet is laid on top "bridging" them. As an example, let us say you put a 5 dollar Don’t Pass bet and the shooter rolls a point of eight. Understanding the true odds for the eight are 6:5 (i.e., 6 ways to make a 7, and 5 ways to make an 8), you then place six dollars in Odds with the hope of winning five dollars. In this example, if you actually win the 6 dollars Odds bet, you win five dollars, which absolutely equals the amount you earn with your 5 dollar Flat wager. Therefore, since your Flat wager and Odds bet capture the same amount (5 dollars each), you bridge your 6 dollars Odds wager by placing a 5 dollar chip exactly next to your five dollar Flat bet, and then placing the $1 chip so it bridges the two $5 chips.
If the pay out for a Do not Pass Odds wager doesn’t equal the amt. of the Flat bet, then the Odds bet is heeled. This basically means you place the first chip of your Odds wager chip stack right beside to your Flat bet. Then, place all remaining Odds bet chips on top of that first chip but offset and leaning on that first chip (your Odds wager chip stack is tilted due to the fact that it’s angled on the bottom chip).
Confused? That’s fine, don’t get alarmed. The croupier is always ready to assist if you forget. After a couple of times, it all makes perfect sense. It will not take too long before you’re an expert. If you’re not sure what to do the first time you attempt it, simply inform the croupier, "I want to lay some Odds but I don’t know if it really should be bridged or heeled." The dealer asks, "How much do you wish to place?" Let’s assume you indicate, "Fifteen dollars to win 10."
